Policies

GRAND SLAM TENNIS CLUB POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

At Grand Slam at Banksville (GSB), we are committed to creating a "Great Tennis, Great Teaching" environment. To do so, it is necessary to establish a set of policies and related procedures. While not covering every circumstance, the following includes many frequent topics we encounter and the most vital to the successful operation of Grand Slam programming. Should questions, comments or suggestions related to these or other policies and procedures come to mind, please address them directly to our Player Service Manager.

GENERAL

Personal Property - GSB is not responsible for valuables or personal property left, lost, or stolen on the premises, tennis playing areas or parking lot. All clients are advised to properly store and secure their personal belongings.

Smoking - Smoking and all other forms of tobacco use is prohibited within the facility or on the grounds.

Video Taping - The use of camera phones or video-taping equipment is strictly prohibited within the facility or on the grounds without the prior written consent of the Club's Management.

Risk of injury / Waiver of claims -The use of the GSB facility is strictly at each player's risk. GSB is not responsible for injuries, accidents or damages you may receive from activities at GSB or on the premises. All players and guests further release GSB and its employees, partners, shareholders, directors, officers and agents from all suits, claims or demands for damages.

24 Hour Cancellation Policy - Scheduling / Re-scheduling - Booking, cancelling and or re-scheduling of private / clinic instruction must be done only through our Player Services personnel either in person, by emailing Staff@grandslamtennisclub.com or by calling (914) 234-9206. Any communication with your tennis professional will not be considered a form of notice. Lesson / Open court time cancellations must be made 24 hours or more in advance of the scheduled appointment time. Anything less will result in full charge. Please note that in the case of a group clinic – the Club considers that the clinic is in session if at least one participant attends. In this case, no other make-ups will be provided.

COURT USE

Check-in - All players must check in at our Player Service Desk upon arrival.

Open Court Play – Open court time may be reserved up to three days in advance (Wednesday for Saturday).

Court Assignment - GSB reserves the right to place any group (open play, season court/lesson, etc.) on any court as situations arise. GSB reserves the right to provide instruction on adjacent courts.

Court Changeover - Players are asked not to go on to their assigned court until their scheduled court time begins. In addition, they are requested to immediately leave the court when their assigned court time is completed.

Etiquette - Players should refrain from loud or long-distance conversations so as to not distract players on adjacent courts.

Food & Drink - Players are prohibited from bringing food and drink (especially coffee or soda) on the courts.

Spectators - Spectators may watch play through the windows of the viewing lounge behind courts 4 & 5 and behind the east curtains between courts 1 & 2 or 2 & 3. For safety concerns, only players are allowed on the courts; benches are provided for players use only.

Tennis Attire - Neat tennis attire and tennis shoes are required. Shoes must be non-marking and flat soled. The club reserves the right to remove anyone from the courts should their dress not be acceptable. Clothing changes (shirts in particular) are prohibited on court; please use our locker rooms.

Cell Phone Use - Use of cell phones is prohibited on the court. This includes both verbal (calls) and non-verbal use (text or email).

Outdoor Courts – players must enter Grand Slam through the front door (main lobby entrance) and check in with our Player Service Staff.

TENNIS RULES AND GUIDELINES

Please abide by our guidelines so that all families, players, and children of Grand Slam Tennis Club have an enjoyable experience. If you have any questions whatsoever please contact our Player Services at (914) 234-9206.

• Be punctual for all tennis clinics and lessons. If you know you are going to be late please be considerate and call the club to notify us.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude. Do not use any foul language, mock, tease, argue or complain to any other player or coach. Poor behavior (swearing, racket abuse, ball abuse) is always inexcusable and will not be tolerated.
• Listen to your coaches. Always listen when being addressed and make good eye contact.
• Chewing gum should be disposed of before playing. This is also a non smoking club.
• Please pick up all tennis balls when you are done with your clinic or lesson upon the pro's prompting. (Typically 5 minutes before the lesson ends.)
• Always be safe. Do not participate in any behavior that would risk injury to anyone else, such as throwing or hitting balls when not asked to, throwing your racquet or any other object on or off the court.
• Be respectful of others. Bullying and name calling in any form will not be tolerated.
• Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times. Always make good line calls. When you are in doubt of a call the ball is "in."
• Compliment your opponent after good shots and act and behave in a positive manner toward yourself and the other players. End any competition with a smile, firm handshake and praise for your opponent.

TENNIS INSTRUCTION

Pro Assignments - GSB reserves the right to substitute an instructor should circumstances arise that make it necessary. Teaching professionals who are not GSB employees are not permitted to teach on Club premises.

Teaching Equipment - GSB clients are not permitted to use the club's teaching carts, hoppers or balls. Nor are they permitted to introduce their own teaching equipment. Insurance concerns requires that no more than six balls can be in play on any non-club instruction program court. Tennis ball machines are also prohibited.

Season Lessons – GSB requires that all private lessons /clinics scheduled during prime time (weeknights 7:00pm - close and all day Saturday and Sunday) must be purchased for the entire indoor season. Package Lessons may not be scheduled in prime time.

Package Lessons - 12 week private lesson packages are available. Package lessons may only be scheduled weekdays from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. This will assure the day / time reservation for the twelve week period. All lesson packages will have an expiration date of 4 months from the date of purchase.

Open Individual Lessons – Individual lessons may be purchased and can be scheduled three days in advance.

Home Lessons - GSB professionals are available to teach off-premise home lessons at mutually agreeable times during our outdoor season. All scheduling, payments, and other arrangements must be made through our Player Services Staff. GSB professionals, as a condition of their employment, are prohibited from teaching or receiving any form of payment for tennis services provided outside their GSB relationship.

Weather Related Issues - GSB makes every attempt to remain open during times of inclement weather. However, safety is of utmost importance. If the Club is open we will consider that all instructional programs are in session and the 24 hour cancellation policies will apply. Make ups will be granted In the event that GSB has to close. Please note: GSB services many area towns. Therefore, it does not follow or comply with any particular school closing decision. GRAND SLAM SEASON LESSONS/CLINICS POLICIES

Deposit – A $500.00 per hour deposit is required to register for a seasonal program (adult / junior programs) for the upcoming indoor season. These deposits are refundable until June 1st. After June 1st the deposits are non-transferable or refundable.

Early Bird Payment – In the event that a client takes advantage of this payment option and then decides to cancel their reservation they may do so and get a full refund of monies paid prior to June 1st. These payments are refundable until June 1st. After June 1st the payments are non-transferable or refundable.

Balance Due - In July GSB will invoice the balance due for all season adult and junior Instruction fees due (less $ deposit paid). Payment is due upon receipt but in no case later than August 31st.

Refund / Credit - If a player(s) must discontinue participation once the season / session is underway, all program fees paid will be held as an in-house credit. This credit may be applied in the future towards any pro shop, court time, play program or instruction purchase for themselves or any other member of their family. All in-house credits will expire 1 year from the date of issuance; after this time any remaining credit $ value will be forfeited. Please note that a refund will only be issued if the party moves more than 50 miles from GSB or if the injury in question will prevent them from participating for the rest of the season. Documentation in both cases will be required prior to refund consideration. All refunds will be subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee.

Make-ups – GSB does not guarantee make-up sessions or credits for sessions missed. Season lesson/clinic make-up sessions (when proper 24-hrs notice has been provided) must be completed by the end of the indoor season. Make-up sessions may need to be scheduled on different days/times, courts and with different professionals. All approved makeups must be used before May 31st or be forfeited.

Seasonal Court rentals - Grand Slam does not provide make ups or refund seasonal court time session missed except for the days when Grand Slam is closed due to extreme weather conditions or due to circumstances beyond its control.

GRAND SLAM JUNIOR & USTA PROGRAM POLICIES

Deposit - A $500.00 per one-hour class deposit is required to reserve a spot in the junior program for the upcoming indoor season. Deposit is refundable until August 1st. After August 1st the deposit is non-transferable or refundable. Early Bird Payment - In the event that a client takes advantage of this payment option and then decides to cancel their reservation they may do so and get a full refund of monies paid prior to August 1st. After August 1st the monies paid will be refundable (less deposit equivalent) up until September 1st. All refunds will be subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee.

Balance due - In mid-July GSB will invoice the balance due for all junior programs. Payments must be received no later than the 1st day of play.

Refund / Credit – No Refunds once play commences. If a player discontinues participation after the season/session begins; an in-house credit will be provided for the remainder of classes less any cancellation fees. This credit may be applied toward any family's future purchases at Grand Slam. Refunds will be issued only if the player moves more than 50 miles from their current residency or an injury prevents the player from participating for the remainder of the season. Documentation will be required prior to refund consideration. All refunds/credits after three weeks of a players' start date will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

Make-ups – Grand Slam does not guarantee make-up sessions or provide credit for sessions missed. Players may make up two missed sessions per class purchased. All make-up sessions must be approved, scheduled through our respective Program Director, and completed prior to the end of the season in which they occur.
